FAQ’s:
What is ACCUPLACER?

The ACCUPLACER exam is a computer adaptive college placement test used by Arkansas State University Mid-South to evaluate incoming student’s skill levels in reading, writing, and mathematics. These scores can also be used to place students in courses appropriate to their skill levels.

ASU Mid-South accepts ACCUPLACER scores for general admission purposes. High school students may also take the exam to establish eligibility for enrollment in concurrent high school courses.

How many times can I take the ACCUPLACER exam?
Examinees may take each section of the ACCUPLACER once per day but no more than three times in a 30-day period. It is recommended that test takers wait two weeks between an initial test and the retest. Test takers are encouraged to use the two week period for study and review of test content areas in which they did not obtain a passing score.
How can I prepare for the Accuplacer exam?
For ACCUPLACER sample questions, go to Accuplacer’s website: Accuplacer Student Practice

To improve your Reading score, choose Reading Sample Questions.
To improve your English score, choose Writing Sample Questions.
To improve your Math score, choose Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics Sample Questions.

You can also access the Free ACCUPLACER Web Based App which allows you to create a log-in and access more prep help.

What is WorkKeys?
The WorkKeys Exam is a National Career Readiness Certificate Assessment and is taken by our students who are finishing their Associate’s Degree as part of Mid-South’s graduation requirements.  It is a way to show employers that you have the skills to be a valuable employee.  Doing well on the WorkKeys exam can earn you recognition at graduation, a certificate that is attractive to potential employers, and contributes to the Work Ready Community designation in Crittenden County (which could help attract potential employers to the area). There are three 55-minute exams: Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy.  There are four certificate levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
How can I prepare for the WorkKeys Exam?
Visit the ACT WorkKeys website for more information: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/workkeys-for-job-seekers/preparation.html. The three sections are part of the National Career Readiness Certificate (click on the test section names to find out more and to see practice questions): Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy.
