Financial Aid Analyst

Arkansas State University Mid-South currently has an open position for a Financial Aid Analyst.  This is a full-time, 12-month position with college benefits. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree required, with preference to candidates who hold a bachelor’s or more advanced degree.  At least three years of experience in an educational setting preferred.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and Excel is required.  Knowledge of Ellucian Banner, our student information system (SIS) and Element451, our CRM software, is preferred.  Accurate and timely data entry is essential, and the successful candidate must have the ability to multi-task.

General Description
The Financial Aid Analyst is responsible for verifying, processing, and packaging student financial aid which will include federal, state, institutional, and private funds while keeping up to date of changing federal, state, and institutional regulations. This position conducts financial aid outreach to current and prospective students to determine if their financial situation has changed. The individual in this position will also facilitate student workshops, provide students and parents with advice on financial aid options, and will assist in training. Some light travel is required. Some evening hours required.

 Responsibilities:

  • Meet with students and parents concerning the financial aid process, types of financial aid available, deadlines and procedures, offering assistance to complete various financial aid forms and documents, and emailing/mailing financial aid materials when necessary.
  • Serve as lead for processing institutional scholarships in Element451 (processing applications, determining eligibility, renewal eligibility, conducing committee meetings for Foundation scholarships, awarding scholarships).
  • Provide efficient and courteous customer service focused on institutional responsiveness to external visitors, students, and co-workers.
  • Process student aid applications; after reviewing need analysis statements, determine financial need, based upon the review of need analysis forms; Review all data for accuracy and completeness; and Package awards according to eligibility and regulations.
  • Enter student documents and data into the College’s student information system, Ellucian Banner.
  • Scanning/Indexing/Verifying student documents in Document Manager.
  • Serve as back-up on calculating return to title IV (R2T4) amounts each semester.
  • Maintain rosters for various Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) state scholarship programs.
  • Serve as an active member of the scholarship committee and other campus committees, as assigned.
  • Respond to internal and external requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as back-up as a Certifying Official for Veterans.
  • Attend workshops and trainings to keep up to date with new regulations. Some travel will be required.
  • Conduct Financial Aid Informational events to area high schools, campus groups, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Projected Start Date: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Start date cannot start before July 1, 2025.
