Part-time, 20 hrs week
Required Qualifications: Must hold a high school diploma or GED. Some college experience preferred. Ability to type 30 wpm with an accuracy rate of 90%; working-knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; accurate alphabetical and numerical filing skills; excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service; ability to work independently, unsupervised, as well as part of a team. Dependable and timely work attendance is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Integrated Library Software (ILS); knowledge of Library of Congress classification; high proficiency in information literacy.
Responsibilities: The Evening Library Clerk reports directly to the Director of the Library Media Center and is responsible for providing general reference and information services, as well as circulation duties during the evening with or without direct supervision. Ability to flex and adjust work schedule to meet occasional temporary schedule changes is desirable.
Other duties will include:
- Assisting patrons in solving simple computer problems
- Instructing and assisting library patrons in the use of the library software and online databases
- Providing technical support to patrons in operating various types of library equipment
- Answering the Library’s phone lines in a courteous and customer friendly manner
- Maintaining the physical library collections
- Closing and locking the library at the end of the business day
- Maintaining the safety and security of materials and library patrons
Other duties as assigned
Work involves lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds of library materials; climbing / use of a step stool and bending to re-shelve materials on high and low shelving; and pushing / pulling fully loaded book trucks.
Salary: $11.00 per hour; 20 hours per week Monday – Thursday, 2:00 – 7:00 pm
