Immediate Supervisor: This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer
General Description: The Director of Information Technology oversees the day-to-day operations of the college’s technology infrastructure and support staff as well as the planning and continuous improvement of IT functions, resources, and strategies. This position is governed by state and federal laws. This is a full-time salaried position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day IT operations of the ASU Mid-South campus with an emphasis on user support, Identity and Access Management, and hardware and software maintenance
- Maintain and improve IT infrastructure, including Active Directory, Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365, network/data security, hardware deployment, Microsoft HyperV, printer network, and telecom projects.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside vendors for product implementation and upgrades.
- Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer to implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and services
- Support projects related to automation and process management using Microsoft PowerShell and other coding approaches and tools as needed
- Administer IT Helpdesk and incident response. Assist the Chief Information Officer in developing incident response plans and procedures
- Manage team members and mentor junior staff to execute IT strategy in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network equipment and settings on the college’s Cisco Meraki LAN and Palo Alto security devices
- Stay abreast of industry best practices in risk management techniques, integrating new methods and tools as appropriate, including cybersecurity threats and AI usage.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience working with hardware, software and networking solutions with emphasis on Cisco Meraki networks, Microsoft 365 tenant administration, Active Directory maintenance, and fundamental DNS and database concepts. High-level understanding of best practices in information security and data security. Ability to read/analyze system logs to find problems or errors and devise corrective measures, read and interpret technical literature and evaluate product acceptability and/or quality, manage personal computer and network equipment, test computer programs and document procedures.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Effective communication and presentation skills in written, verbal, and electronic formats. Demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative and effective solutions to management and operational issues. Strong analytical skills allowing for effective evaluation and implementation of adjustments to hardware and applications to accommodate user requirements and the strategic goals of the college.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field. A combination of education and industry-recognized certifications (ex. Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+) preferred
- A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in an IT-related field, preferably in an educational setting. At least one year of experience managing staff and/or student workers preferred.
- Experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Experience with Microsoft Server, PowerShell, HyperV, Cisco network devices, and Microsoft Office 365 administration tools.
- Familiarity with higher education-specific IT needs, including Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, and best practices for ensuring the security of protected personal information.
- Proven experience in customer service and user support in an IT role
