Computer programmers are the builders of the computing world by translating software design into code that computers can read, crafting the operating systems and software applications consumers use every day. The demand for computing power is only growing, opening more career possibilities for people interested in computer programming.
Employment opportunities in the tech industry are booming, especially in programming. Programmers can find job opportunities in a variety of industries, including the transportation sector, government, healthcare and entertainment. Programming skills can also be applied in today’s emerging field of data security.
THE PROGRAM
The AAS Degree in Computer Programming is designed to prepare students for a career in computer programming and applications development, providing instruction in the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to create software solutions that harness the ever-expanding capabilities of computer systems.
This program offers a balanced set of courses that focus on client, server, and database programming skills. Emphasis is placed on object-oriented programming applications, configuration of servers, creation and navigation of databases, and reusable software components. Students will demonstrate the ability to design and implement business environment applications utilizing the software development life cycle.
The program will help to prepare students to take certification examinations for career attainment and advancement. Career opportunities available after the completion of this degree include software engineering, cloud development, front and back end development, and database development.
