We’re looking for a Communications Specialist who knows that words have power—and knows how to wield them. You’ll be the voice behind ASU Mid-South, creating content that informs, engages and inspires. From press releases to social media, you’ll craft the stories that shape our brand. And you won’t be doing it alone, you’ll be the producer behind the video content created by our Creative Media Specialist, ensuring our messaging is as sharp visually as it is verbally.
This is a full-time position with full university benefits reporting to the Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications. This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to churn out generic content. It’s for a strategic storyteller who knows how to craft a message that connects. If that’s you, let’s talk.
Responsibilities:
Write press releases, feature stories and marketing content that people want to read.
Develop social media posts that don’t sound like corporate jargon and drive real engagement. Not that AI content that is so easy to spot.
Act as the producer for video storytelling, helping shape the narrative, scripting content and ensuring the final product aligns with our brand voice.
Collaborate with the Creative Media Specialist to ensure visuals and messaging work together seamlessly.
Manage website content, ensuring it’s always fresh, accurate and engaging.
Keep an eye on trends in communications, marketing and media to keep ASU Mid-South ahead of the curve.
Be available to work some nights and weekends to capture stories and events happening after hours.
Capabilities and Attributes being sought include:
A portfolio of writing samples that prove you know how to craft compelling content.
Strong storytelling skills—you know how to hook an audience, structure a message and make information stick.
Experience with social media management and an understanding of what works on different platforms.
The ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Basic familiarity with CMS platforms for web editing (WordPress or similar preferred).
Bonus Points If You:
Have experience writing video scripts or producing multimedia content.
Understand SEO and how to make content more discoverable.
Can turn dry institutional messaging into something people want to read.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or a related field.
At least two years of professional experience in content creation, communications or digital marketing
A combination of education and experience may be considered
Salary: $45,000, Dependent upon credentials and experience. Competitive benefits package available including retirement; health, life, dental & disability insurance; a flex benefit plan; and educational discounts for employees and family.
