As an Academic Coach with TRiO Educational Opportunity Center, you will be the first line of support for participant in the TRiO project, providing information they need to begin or resume educational dreams.
This position Reports to the Director of TRiO EOC. Responsibilities are as follows: Establish and consistently maintain relationships with businesses, industries, churches, high schools, colleges, human services agencies, nonprofits and other sites in the two county area to speak to potential students; conducts workshops on financial aid and completion of admission applications; assist potential students with college searches and career opportunities; provides case management for eligible participants ensuring accurate and timely documentation of contacts and student use of program services; coordinates with on-campus and off‑campus agencies to meet program goals; recruits/enrolls participants in the EOC program; prepare and maintain detailed and comprehensive reports of recruitment activities; submits monthly productivity reports and works as a team member with other TRiO grant programs. Some travel as well as evening and weekend work is required.
Competencies/Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
· Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, email and excellent oral and written communication skills;
· Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with a diverse client base; and
· Must have a demonstrated ability to collect organize and analyze data
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, education, social work, counseling or another related field from a regionally accredited institution with at least two years’ experience working with under-prepared and disadvantaged adults in a counseling type role. Sales and/or customer service experience helpful. Knowledge of Crittenden and Shelby County communities.
