Adult Education

Whether you’re looking to sharpen your reading, writing, or math skills, learn English, earn your GED® or high school diploma, build job readiness, or take steps toward college or a new career, ASU Mid-South Adult Education is here to support you. We offer free classes, caring instructors, and personalized support to help you reach your goals. No matter where you are on your journey, it’s never too late to learn. Let us help you build a plan that fits your life and your future.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
TABE is used to assess your current skill level in reading, math, and language. Your results help us place you in the best class to support your learning.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
ABE classes help adults strengthen foundational skills in reading, writing, and math—especially helpful if you’ve been out of school for a while or need extra support in these subjects.

General Adult Education (GAE)
For students who test high enough on the TABE, GAE classes prepare you for the GED® with instruction in higher-level reading, math, science, social studies, and critical thinking.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Designed for those whose first language is not English. You’ll learn to read, write, and speak English with confidence. Students are assessed with the TABE® Class-E to determine placement.

Workforce Preparation – WAGE™ Certificate
Open to all students, including those with a high school diploma. The WAGE program helps you build workplace skills, including digital literacy, financial literacy, and communication. Earning this certificate demonstrates your readiness and dedication to employers.

GED® Preparation & Testing
Once you’ve achieved the required TABE® scores and completed recommended instruction, you’re ready to take the GED® Ready Test. Pass all four parts of the GED® exam and you’ll earn your Arkansas High School Diploma. Graduates are invited to participate in our college commencement ceremony to celebrate their achievement!

SNAP E&T Program
If you’re a SNAP recipient, this Employment & Training program offers one-on-one coaching and resources to help you build employability skills, explore careers, write résumés, and find meaningful work.

Integrated Education & Training (IET)
This program pairs adult education with hands-on workforce training. Learn essential academic skills while preparing for a specific career field—all at the same time.
