The Computer Support Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of activities related to computer support, such as the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and utilization of microcomputer systems. This position follows state and federal laws. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Information Technology.
Responsibilities:
The Computer Support Coordinator will serve as a liaison between IT and functional areas on campus, assist departments and students with a variety of technology needs, and troubleshoot equipment, including computers, interactive white boards, projectors, printers, and other classroom/technology lab media.
In addition, this position will educate department staff on software and hardware, communicates issues between departments, students, and IT to resolve problems in a timely manner, and keep all staff informed of situations, install software updates, and coordinate with vendors or manufacturers to resolve problems. May analyze computer-generated logs to identify the source of errors and work with users to resolve problems and recommend changes or updates, documentation, and training to address system deficiencies and user needs. Will be required to access administrative portals or dashboards for cloud-based services to evaluate and ensure resolutions to account or user-related issues.
Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor. Installs, configures, upgrades, or replaces microcomputer hardware and software for users. Evaluates and makes recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements. Provides recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software. Assists in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer-related topics.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and use of microcomputer hardware and software, computer software with emphasis on DUO/Microsoft multifactor, Cisco Meraki networks, and Office 365 administrative tools. Ability to Read/analyze system logs to find problems or errors and devise corrective measures, read and interpret technical literature and evaluate product acceptability and/or quality, manage personal computer and network equipment, test computer programs and write program documentation.
Maintains expertise in a variety of specialized application software packages and network equipment. Evaluates and implements necessary adjustments to applications to accommodate user requirements. Installs software and hardware updates and coordinates with the manufacturer to resolve problems, and may analyze computer-generated reports to identify the source of errors and work with system vendors and users to resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of an Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Applications, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in computer support. OR completion of technical training in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Processing, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting. Preference will be given to applicants with technical and other applicable certifications and licenses such as:
- CompTIA A+
- CCENT – Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician
- Microcomputer Upgrade and Repair

Salary: This is a non-classified, non-exempt position with the state of Arkansas. Annual salary for qualified candidates is $45,000.
