Veterans Welcome

Our Vision
Our vision is to honor veterans and those currently serving and their families for their service to our country by providing them with the finest career and technical education in the Crittenden County and the surrounding area.

Our Services
ASU Mid-South is committed to providing innovative career and technical education to veterans, reservists, and their families while providing the highest level of resources and referral information. ASU Mid-South is dedicated to providing the immediate educational needed for its veterans and service members. The following services are available to enrolled veterans and those currently serving and their families:

  • Advising and registration support
  • Peer tutoring
  • Career exploration and development
  • Financial aid and military benefits assistance

To Start Benefits at ASU Mid-South:

1: The student must apply and be accepted for admissions to ASU Mid-South.

2: The student must submit official high school, military, and all college transcripts. Student MUST submit a Transcript Evaluation Request to the VA Certifying Official for consideration of transfer coursework. If the evaluation determines that credit can be allowed, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs will be notified. Any credit granted will be indicated on the Enrollment Certification.

3: The student must complete the veteran’s application for benefits with the Veteran’s Administration (VA). This may be done at ebenefits.gov.

4: The student must notify the VA School Certifying Official of their intent to attend courses and provide copies of the following forms:

  • Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
  • Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)-Reserve/National Guard only
  • DD-214
  • VA file number-for dependent students only
  • Form 22-1995-only if VA benefits have been used at a previous school
  • Copy of schedule

Veteran Responsibilities:

  • In order to comply with the laws governing the GI BILL®, it is your responsibility as a student to notify the School Certifying Official of your status with ASU Mid-South.
  • It is imperative that you meet with the SCO at the beginning of each semester that you register for courses to complete the necessary paperwork to receive your veteran education benefit.
  • The student must inform the SCO with any changes to your student record, class schedule, or change of major.
  • VA education benefits may be terminated if compliance with school and VA regulations are not met.

School Certifying Official (SCO):

Crystal Burger, Director of Financial Aid, is the Certifying Official. She is located in the Enrollment Services office in the Reynolds Center. She can be reached by phone at (870) 733-6831 or by email at ccburger@asumidsouth.edu. The Certifying Official has received training from the Western Association of Veterans Education Specialist (WAVES), Federal Student Aid conference (FSA Conference), and National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). This is the ensure that our students using Veterans benefits receives the best financial aid counseling.
