Chess has been played for centuries, with roots often traced to around 600 AD and possibly even earlier. What has never changed is our love for the game and the way it brings people together. This community chess class continues that tradition with a focus on fun, learning and enjoying the game.

Description
While we won’t be chasing the level of world champions like Magnus Carlsen or Hikaru Nakamura, participants will learn the basics of how chess works and gain an understanding of simple positional ideas. Skill level does not matter. This class is designed for beginners and casual players who want to learn, play and enjoy their time.
Each session will cover basic rules, core concepts and fun facts about the game. Skills will build from class to class, and there are no bad questions.
Meet the Instructor
Fox is a self-taught chess player with an approximate 1200 ELO rating on Chess.com. Like many players, Fox learned the game at a young age but truly connected with chess later in life while playing casually with a coworker as a way to relax. That experience sparked a lasting appreciation for the depth, strategy and creativity of the game.
Participants are invited to learn, play a game or two and get to know each other in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
