BE AN ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY MID-SOUTH MO BRO!
Movember is an international organization designed to raise awareness and funding for treatment of men’s health issues – most notably prostate and testicular cancer.
My father died from prostate cancer in November, 1991. Twenty-six years ago, the detecting of prostate cancer was difficult and treatment options were very limited. The treatments my father received are not even used anymore, but that was how limited the knowledge was about this form of cancer. Since then, deaths from prostate cancer have been reduced by 50% nationally, but still 45 men die every hour from the disease. – Mark McClellan
WHAT IS MOVEMBER AND WHAT IS A MO BRO?
Movember lasts the entire month of November to bring awareness to men’s health issues. Many celebrities participate each year and millions of dollars are raised around the world.
A Mo Bro is a person who participates and/or donates to the effort.
Men choose not to shave in the month of November growing facial hair to bring attention to the cause.
Chris Tindall and I are starting a Movember chapter here on our campus to help raise funds. We will be competing against other colleges in the Big Moustache on Campus category. The winner is based on how much money is raised on an individual campus.
We are setting our initial goal at $500 and if we reach that goal I’ll raise the bar.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
If you’re a dude who wants to become a Mo Bro, it’s easy. Beginning November 1, you don’t shave until December 1 and donate to the effort.
WHAT IF YOU’RE NOT A DUDE?
You can become a Mo Sis by encouraging the men on campus to participate and by donating to the cause.
