Responsibilities: The Grounds Manager is a full‑time, classified position with full college benefits. This position is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of grounds. Responsibilities include supervising skilled and unskilled laborers performing activities such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and flower beds, maintaining sprinkler systems and repairing equipment. This individual will work alongside the grounds crew to weed eat, edge, mow, maintain flower beds, etc. This individual will assess the needs for ground maintenance, recommend improvements or enhancements, coordinate plans for projects and continued maintenance, and request needed materials and equipment.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of grounds-keeping practices and procedures; knowledge of supervisory practices; ability to plan work objectives and assign and direct work, working along with staff; and an ability to estimate materials and equipment needed in the maintenance of grounds. Staff includes trustees on work assignment from the county jail. Must have computer skills, word, excel, outlook, etc.
Minimum qualifications: High school diploma and ability to read and understand plans and instructions, plus experience in grounds maintenance and at least one year of supervisory experience. Chemical license preferred.
