Title III Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) Grant
This is a full-time, grant-funded position for two remaining years of our Title III Grant. The First Year Experience/OnCourse Coordinator will report to the Director of Title III Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) Grant and participates in a number of support services.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position leads the effort in creating the First-Year Experience comprising the Summer Program, New Student Orientation, and the freshman Success Course. The OnCourse coordinator works with Admissions, Finance, Marketing, Recruiting, Student Support programs, and academic faculty to create a purposeful first year experience for beginning college students. The components of the First-Year Experience are to incorporate the OnCourse curriculum.
The OnCourse Coordinator will also create an OnCourse Skills + Policy & Procedures Manual for use in SLA (structured learning assistance) sessions. OnCourse Coordinator will assist in integrating OnCourse principles into all academic and technical programs of the college. OnCourse Coordinator will develop, implement, and/ or facilitate on and off campus faculty professional development related to OnCourse. To assure that services are appropriately addressing the needs of students, the OnCourse Coordinator will gather and analyze data for evaluation of On Course implementation.
The OnCourse Coordinator reports directly to the Title III-PBI Grant Director. OnCourse Coordinator must keep accurate and timely records of grant activities to demonstrate progress in meeting grant goals and objectives. Monthly reports are required.
Education and Experience
· Master’s degree or higher in counseling, adult education, student services, curriculum development, or related field
· Experience in academic support services
· Knowledge of OnCourse philosophy and experience in its implementation
· Experience working with minority, low-income, first-generation college students
· Experience conducting professional development, especially in an academic setting
· Excellent oral/written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
