Part-time, 20 hrs week
Qualifications: Must hold a high school diploma or GED. Some college experience preferred. Ability to type 30 wpm with an accuracy rate of 90%; working-knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; accurate alphabetical and numerical filing skills; excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service; ability to work independently, unsupervised, as well as part of a team. Dependable and timely work attendance is required.
Responsibilities: The Evening Library Clerk reports directly to the Director of the Library Media Center and is responsible for providing general reference and information services, as well as circulation duties during the evening with or without direct supervision. Flexibility in being able to adjust work schedule to meet occasional temporary schedule changes is desirable.
Duties will include assisting patrons in solving simple computer problems; instruct and assist library patrons in the use of the library software and online databases; provide technical support to patrons in operating various types of library equipment; answering the Library’s phone lines in a courteous and customer friendly manner; maintain the physical library collections; closing and locking the library at the end of the business day, maintaining the safety and security of materials and library patrons, and other duties as assigned. Assist with the training of and overseeing the work of Student Worker(s) assigned to the Library Media Center in the absence of a full-time employee.
Work involves lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds of library materials; climbing / use of a step stool and bending to re-shelve materials on high and low shelving; and pushing / pulling fully loaded book trucks.
Salary: $10.00 per hour; 20 hours per week Monday – Thursday, 2:00 – 7:00 pm
